How to run Giveaways on Twitter/X

Define/assess monetary value

The only true metric to judge the success of the campaign is impressions.

Assign a monetary value to 1 impression.

  • INR 1 = 100 impressions
  • INR 1 = 10 impressions

Use this to determine the minimum engagement criteria to create a win-win for all.

Who can win?

  • Real, identifiable people

Who cannot win?

Let everyone participate, but anybody in the following categories SHOULD NOT be declared as winners.

  • Completely anonymous accounts
  • Catfish/catfish-y accounts
  • Giveaway pods members
  • Your employees, friends, and family
  • Past giveaway winners

Define the giveaway terms

  • What's the prize and its monetary value?
  • How many people can win?
  • What is the minimum engagement criteria for the original post?
  • How long is the giveaway going to run (start and finish)?
  • What is the number of entries you are going to entertain from each participant?
  • What is the criteria for selecting a winner?
  • What is the eligibility (age, location, etc.)?
  • When will the winner be announced?

Define the ask

  • Like
  • Repost/Retweet
  • Reply (with website links to favorite products and what you like about them)
  • Quote Tweet (make it fun: story, joke, roast, memes, copy, etc.)

Post guidelines

  • Design a custom graphic for the giveaway
  • If not, add a picture of the prizes in the main post
  • Do not add any links in the main post
  • Link each prize in the replies

Initial push

  • Pin the post on your profile
  • Add the post to the highlights
  • Ask anybody on your team to do the same
  • Ask them to provide the initial push

Announcing winners

  • Announce the winners at the promised time.
  • Give winners a 100% discount code so they can place the order on your website.
  • Surprise some accounts with consolation prizes (smaller packs/SKUs, exclusive discount codes).
